Beck Home Projects: Part One

Over this last Christmas break, Garrick and I were staying in my old bedroom. That room belonged to Carrie, me and Kayla. There were bits and pieces left from all of us in that room. One night Garrick accidentally broke a piece of the blind which meant we needed to buy new ones. And with that it got me started on a project. Now that my parents were empty nesters, we needed to get our junk out of their house and turn that room into a real functioning guest bedroom. With the help of my dear, sweet, patient husband, we were able to get everything done in a little over 24 hours. It was so fun!

I didn't get any good before pictures because the moment I got the idea I started tearing about the room. But here are some "during" pictures.

And the after:
Then, when I went home in march my mom and I tackled another room. Pictures to come!

Pieces of March

Blogging is hard and I only seem to get worse with time but I document our lives from time to time! So here is an accumulation of photos throughout the month of March.
One night Garrick started talking about his mission, he explained to me that while he purchased his Bulgarian treasures he imagined there would be a display table of all of his mission memories in his future home. So that night we drove to his dad's house, found his missionary boxes, drove home, and he slowly went through every single item, explaining why it was special or important. Here is a small taste of his display table that he will have in the future haha. He also wants a marine display table...I'm sure we'll find a nice compromise...

Also when we got married, Garrick kept talking about how he had bought special rose perfume for his future wife. He mentioned it constantly, but I never got to see this perfume he spoke of until the other night! Two beautiful bottles of rose petal perfume that missionary Garrick picked out just for me. Thank goodness it smells good, I wear it everyday!
Another cool Bulgarian treasure he has is this painting that was made of him. It's based from my all time favorite photo of Garrick, I think it is beautiful!
Another event that took place in March was us FINALLY going to LOWES EXTREME AIR SPORTS!! I've been dying to go with Garrick since we started dating. 3 years I tried to get this kid to go with me, well we finally made it happen. I loved it, he loved it, it was magical.
We got skillz.

March also brought girl dates with two of my favorite girls, Kenz and Soph. We went to a puppy store and died of happiness!!
So much loving in that store.
I also got to babysit this sweet girl. Baby Shae is so sweet and little. We love having her next door!
My mom is the sweetest, she flew Kayla and I hope one weekend to support dad in his claim to fame. If anyone has met my dad, they know he is such a stud. Well good ole Abraham Lincoln High school agrees and he was inducted into the hall of fame. We were the proudest bunch of women you ever did see, we were all bawling as he gave his acceptance speech. I really am so blessed to have incredible parents.
He's a big deal.

That along with studying for midterms, preparing for finals, Garrick slaving over MCAT prep basically sums our life at the moment. We LOVE it, seriously, no sarcastic tone needed. We love our life so much. We are perfectly happy in every way!

February living

February was a quick month! It really didn't seem like we did much but then I was going through our pictures and we actually did stuff other than school and work!

We welcomed not one, but two new beautiful nieces. Mary Sue and Shae Lyn. We were able to visit Kelsi and baby while they were in the hospital. Kelsi and Colby are parents now which is so weird  but they're doing a pretty good job, we're very impressed. Also, seeing Garrick hold babies is the cutest thing ever. I die, so much cuteness!
We went to the provo rec center one Saturday afternoon and swam. Afterwards Tommas wanted to climb the rock wall, Garrick assisted. He made it to the top!
We felt like some pretty cool pre-teens on a date we went on with Dallas and Lauren. Rollerblading just takes you back to the good ole days!
I babysat these cute boys. They are growing up so fast I can't believe Jeffrey is two! It's crazy how fast time flies.
Another outing with Tommas was to a UVU basketball game. He loves going to UVU with us, there's so much to do and see!
For Valentines Day we road tripped to Twin Falls, ID to see this beautiful bride get sealed to her man.  It was so fun being able to celebrate with her and Kenz. I love these girls to death!! Also it's crazy that she's married, so weird! Overall it was a pretty good February, it's the weekends that get us through the semester!

Feeling 22

Let me just begin by saying that I had pretty low expectations for my birthday this year. This is Garrick's hardest semester by far and he has so much on his plate so I wasn't expecting much. But he hit it out of the park this year, it was the best birthday I've ever had, seriously! He spoiled me so much and I felt so incredibly loved.

I woke up to a puppy named Rocky in our house and shortly after Kayla and Kenzie were at our house playing with the puppy with us!
Don't we look so good with a puppy? We definitely need one to own one...
The dog slept for the majority of the time, it was pretty funny. He would walk a few steps and then just collapse and sleep and toot. At least he was cute!
After puppy we all went to lunch at the cannon center, thanks La (and dad)! We ate so much food...
After lunch Garrick surprised me with the Bean Museum. I have been trying to go with him for months and he finally made it happen. It was so cool!
After the museum he blindfolded me in the car and drove us to our next destination. I had no idea what was going on and it was a long car ride! He ended up taking me to the coolest Bed and Breakfast in American Fork. We started out in the Tahiti room but then we asked to be moved to the Paris room (but I didn't get any pictures...) It was the sweetest, we've talked about going to a B&B since we got married and we finally went to one. I felt completely spoiled and it was so romantic. He brought my favorite movies, we opened presents, cuddled, it was perfect. Then we went and ate more food at Red Lobster!
He out did himself on gifts this year. I'm always complaining about being cold, always. So he and Kayla picked out the warmest, most beautiful, heavy coat. I died, it was perfect!
I love him so incredibly much, I don't know how I got so lucky to have him. He is my perfect other half.
This all happened on monday (it was a long weekend) My actual birthday was Tuesday and I got spoiled by friends, coworkers and Kayla. So many donuts. I felt so loved!! This will be a hard birthday to top!

Christmas 2014

As much as I try to avoid long catch up posts they seem to be inevitable. Plus March is as good as time as any to post about Christmas so here we go!

Everyone was able to come home this year except for Carrie and Bret's family, they were greatly missed! It was so fun having everyone under one roof.

Garrick brings his gun everywhere and since we drove to Iowa he was able to take it. Mom was curious and wanted to hold it for herself, it was a pretty foreign object to her haha.

My parents always spoil us when we come home and Christmas break was no different. They got tickets for all of us to see the Mannheim Steamrollers concert! It was perfect for getting us in the Christmas spirit!
Christmas isn't complete without the nativity scene on Christmas Eve, Jimmer and Jeffrey were obsessed with Rusty the whole trip so it was only fitting that they were the shepherd to his sheep.
Colby and Kelsi snagged the role as Mary and Joseph (prego perks haha) I was an angel and Garrick was a wiseman.
Whenever the boys are together Risk is always a priority. They decided to play Christmas eve which meant they got very little sleep which resulted in Garrick waking up sick and us at Walgreens Christmas morning getting medicine.
Visiting the gingerbread house display at the tabernacle, another Beck tradition!
We played an intense game of bowling with the fam bam, it was a good time.
Visiting the temple was a highlight of the trip for me. I love going into the temple where we were sealed, and going with my siblings was really nice.
I cannot visit home without seeing this pretty girl. This is us awkwardly taking a picture in target.
Blurry photo but Garrick was a sweetheart and made us cinnamon rolls Christmas Eve to have for breakfast Christmas morning.  They were deadly delicious rolls.
Another highlight of the trip was visiting the zoo, it was freezing but so worth it!
Grandpa Beck came with us and it was so cute watching him with the kiddies.
This picture is just adorable, I love them.
Going to the zoo with kids is so much more fun. They loved seeing everything!

Overall it was another successful Christmas break. My parents made sure we were all happily stuffed with food and gifts. I loved every single minute of it! But I'm thinking I need to take Garrick home when the weather isn't below freezing so we can actually enjoy Iowa a little more, I'll have to work on that.
